Following intervention of the Inter Religious Council of Liberia and the Better Future Foundation on Tuesday in Monrovia, the president of the Civil Servants Union of Liberia, Moibah Johnson, called on all public sector workers of Liberia to return to work beginning Wednesday, December 18. According to Mr. Johnson, the Government has resolved to address the plights of all civil servants following a constant engagement in line with the October 29 memorandum of understanding.
Moibah Johnson further told reporters that the Government of Liberia has promised to ensure that Civil Servants access their salaries by ensuring that all commercial banks have adequate funds to meet the cash need of all public sector workers during this festive season. He also stressed that the payment of civil servants salaries for the month of December 2019, is expected to be done in January 2020 according to the commitment made by the Government. The Civil Servants Union of Liberia began a nationwide ‘Go-slow’ action on Monday in demand of delayed salaries.
