Barely 3 days after Bridge Radio predicted increase in the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus, Liberia has hit 101 cases with 8 deaths. The increase in the number of cases comes following a proclamation by authorities of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) on Monday, April 20, 2020.
According to health authorities, the country currently has 86 active cases, and those patients are currently in the treatment Unit undergoing medication.
The new confirmed cases are all reported from Montserrado County. Cumulatively, 101 cases have been reported with 29 health workers inclusive. While 1434 (one thousand four hundred and thirty four) contacts, including 246 health workers have been documented.
At the same time, health authorities say a total of 872 (61%) contacts have completed 14 days quarantine exercise since exposure. Meanwhile, the NPHIL says, age range, 1 month old to 74 years with median age of 41 have all been documented among confirmed cases with a total deaths of 8.
In the midst of such increase in the number of cases, the government of Liberia has passed a resolution to extend the state of emergency to 60 days as additional measures to contain the spread of the virus.
