The Central Bank of Liberia Governor designate Aloysius Tarlue, has pledged to ensure the independence of the Central Bank following an alleged interference of the Executive Branch regarding the withdrawal of donor fund.
He gave the assurance at his confirmation hearing on Wednesday following series of questions from few senators as to whether he would rejects any executive order on the withdrawal of funds. After thorough revision of the nominee’s credential, Maryland County senator Gbleh-bo Brown, questioned the President George Weah’s nominee why there were no references of baking institutions he claimed to work for in America, Great Britain and Germany?
The Nominee admitted openly that his credential was not updated during submission to the Senate Committee on Banking and Currency. He asserted, he had worked with the (HSBC) Bank in the United States, Dutch Bank in Germany and other International Banks. Senators Verney Sherman, Jonathan Tapia and Peter Coleman questioned the CBL nominee whether he would ensure the independence of the Central Bank mentioning previous cases on the withdrawal of donor funds by Executive specifically the Minister of Finance.
